  • Learn Physical Fitness When You Are Not on the Fairway  By : Dee Hunter
If you were a jogger, you would probably practice before ever going into competition against another. If you were a person who swims, you will swim hours and hours before competing another person in the pool. But the same is not true for most golfers. For golfers, practice usually doesn't take place. Golfers may go hit a few balls before a round, but is about it.

The best practice for golf improvement is not done out on the fairways, and it isn't always done on the driving range either. But, that isn't to say that there are not great habits made on the fairway and tees.

You can figure out your game, learn your strengths and weaknesses, and see how you perform under heat. On the range, you can work on enhancing your swing and determine how far you can hit each club. Even on the green, you can work on your sense of touch and your capability to determine a grain or read the grass.

However, the best golf practice may happen in the weight room. Golf may seem like an easy sport, but it involves many parts of physical fitness. One's aerobic ability is vital for the amount of time on your feet that takes place over a few hours. The average course is almost five miles long, and a round of golf requires a lot of time on the feet.

Strength is also very important because of the many, many times you will swing the clubs during one round. Even if you are shooting 80 or less, you are still swinging a club several hundred times in a round. You will require a lot of strength to do that without wincing or deterioration of swing.

Good golf training really can begin in the gym. Improve your aerobic ability and bodily strength and you will see an incredible improvement in your game.
